TN3270 Installation for Macintosh

These instructions describe the installation and setup of TN3270 for accessing AdCom at UCSD. Note: This installation requires the computer to be restarted. Make sure all open files are saved before installing. This installation requires two installers:

  • tn3270 2.5b2
  • JStunnel Installer
Run the tn3270 installer located in the UCSD ACT software folder.

Choose the Easy Install.

Click Install.

Double-click the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder on the hard disk (here named azerbaijani).

Click Install.

Click Quit after the program is installed.

If you forgot to install the software within the Applications folder on the hard drive, move the entire folder into Applications (Mac OS 9) before continuing.

You will need to increase the memory for tn3270 before it will run properly.

Select (single-click) the tn3270 application (shown above).

From the File menu, select Get Info -> Memory.

Change the Preferred Size to 2000 KB (as shown).

Close the window.

While the tn3270 folder is opened, you can drag the tn3270 application into the Launcher window to create a shortcut to it for easy access.

Run the JStunnel Installer located in the UCSD ACT software folder.

At the first screen, click Continue.

At the next screen, click Yes.

After the installation is complete, click Restart.

When the computer is back up, finish up the tn3270 setup.

Close the JStunnel window that appears.

Launch tn3270 (from the Launcher).

Enter

127.0.0.1

AdCom

in the two fields as shown.

Click Open Connection.

From the File menu, choose Save Defaults... to remember these settings.

Make sure both checkboxes are selected and click OK.

Quit the program.

This concludes the setup. TN3270 will automatically connect to AdCom each time it is run as long as JStunnel is running in the background.
