TN3270 Installation for Windows

These instructions describe the installation and setup of TN3270 for accessing AdCom at UCSD. Note: You must have administrator privileges to install this software. If you are not, please contact CRL's Network Administrator for installing this software. This installation requires two installers:

  • TCP3270
  • UCSD ACT stunnel
Run the Setup program located in the UCSD ACT software folder.

Click Next.

Click the Browse... button.

Type in

C:\PROGRA~1\TCP3270

in the Path field.

Click OK.

Click Yes to create the new folder.

The Destination Directory should now be updated.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Type in 127.0.0.1 for the Default Host Gateway/IP Address. Click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Uncheck both checkboxes.

Click Finish.

Now run the UCSD ACT Stunnel1 installer located in the UCSD ACT software folder.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Check only the box labeled Run the program.

Click Finish.

The shortcut to Stunnel now needs to be moved to the Startup folder for ALL users.

Click Start then move the mouse over All Programs and then finally Startup. Right-click when your mouse moves over Startup and select Open All Users shown here.

Do the same thing again to open the Startup folder for the Administrator by selecting Open shown in bold in the menu as shown here.

Arrange the folders as shown below and move the STunnel shortcut from the Administrator Startup folder to the "All Users" Startup folder.

Close both windows and continue with setting up TN3270.

Open TN3270 from the TCP3270 for Windows 95 folder in the Start menu.

Click OK to start an AdCom session.

Resize the window using Next larger font from the Fonts menu until a readable font is on the screen.

To make this session appear automatically each time you run TN3270, select Session Profile... from the Options menu.

Click the General icon in the left pane.

Check the boxes labeled

  • Start Profile Automatically
  • Save Profile on Window Close

Click Save....

Enter AdCom for the Profile name.

Check the box labeled "Save Current Font and Windows Position".

Click Save.
