SoundEdit 16 Preferences
| Before editing any sound files for use in PsyScope, you will want to make sure you set the application preferences so the files you save are readable by PsyScope and of the highest sound quality.
After opening SoundEdit 16, choose Preferences... from the File menu.
If you do not make the following changes, the soundfiles that you create may not work properly when used in PsyScope. |
| Click the General tab and select From Insertion Point so when you press the space bar to listen to the sound, it will play from the insertion point. |
Click the Document tab and confirm the following:
- Stereo checkbox is off.
- Sample Rate is 44.100.
- Sample Size is 16 bits.
- Compression is None.
| Click the Display tab and set the checkboxes as shown here. Movie Frames is unchecked to speed up the scrolling of the sound file. |
Click the Ruler Units tab and set the following:
- Time: Milliseconds
- Amplitude: Percentage
These values make the most sense when working with sound files destined for PsyScope since everything is timed in milliseconds. The amplitude setting is not important, but it makes the amplitude measurement consistent when working with various formats of sound files. |
